The 11th Duke devoted his life to the preservation of his magnificent ancestral home, Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of his cousin, Winston Churchill. Upon inheriting the Dukedom in 1972, he took over the management of the palace and estate introducing new gardens and installations and hosting an array of artistic and sporting events.

Taken in the splendid dining room, Schwartz noted that ‘it was not my typical type of portrait in that it was more of a posed portrait with a set background that required him to stand, rather than one of my more intimate sessions when I am much better able to relate to the subject. I’ve found that when a subject is sitting down, with few exceptions, he’s much easier to relate to…’
