Larry Adler (1914-2001)

The Berkeley Hotel, London
2 November 1976

Born in Baltimore to an Orthodox Jewish family, Adler was a renowned harmonica player. He performed both solo and with others including George Gershwin, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Elton John and Sting.

Adler arrived at the sitting in tennis garb. He had a dinner jacket but had to borrow shoes, socks and cufflinks from Schwartz (a courier was dispatched to Harrod’s for a black tie).
