Twiggy Lawson, née Lesley Hornby (b. 1949)

Schwartz's flat, Eaton Square, London
1 July 1978

Twiggy was the world’s first supermodel. With her slim figure, large eyes, freckled face and boyish, cropped hair she was the embodiment of the 1960s look.

‘At the time she was three months’ pregnant…no longer the wispy teenager, her face lovelier than ever.’ Schwartz later added: ‘the most beautiful woman I had photographed was one who was in the first three months of pregnancy…she is at her most beautiful stage, her expression, her complexion, her personality were at their peak.’
