Professor Yigael Yadin (1917-1984)
At home, Jerusalem
19 October 1976
Yadin was an archaeologist and politician. He was the second Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces from 1949 to 1952 when he left the army to study archaeology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He served as deputy prime minister from 1977 to 1981, when he retired from political life and resumed his research.
At the time of the sitting, Yadin was considering setting up the new political party, ‘Dash’, which he discussed at length with Schwartz. ‘Yadin is also an avid photographer and uses photography greatly in his archaeological work.’
